Hi! I’m Evie. I’m a librettist, composer, filmmaker, director, dramaturg, and songwriter, and I want to welcome you to my website!
You might think- wow, that’s a lot of job titles for one person. And you’d be right, but it speaks less to any desire to be in control and more to the fact that I love to create and facilitate visions. When I write musicals, I picture the whole stage and the intricacies of choices made by everyone onstage and behind the scenes. When I film, I’m thinking of the edit, the music, the effect of each shot type. For anything I work on, the storytelling isn’t just structural, it’s world building, and it supports both audience engagement and all those working on a piece along with me.
A Bit About Me
I did a BA in Sociology and an MA in Musical Theatre Creation, so critical reflection is second nature to me. My work is informed by a combination of my sociological moral compass and my absolute adoration of theatricality and intimacy through big ideas and detailed people, exploring form and genre through following and breaking their rules, and facilitating the development of others’ creativity and expression.
As a creative and artist, I can critically support and creatively feed other people’s work as much as my own and I invite others to do the same with mine. I want to make work that leaves people with a fire in their stomach, an emotional release, from a project that leads with empathy in front of and behind the scenes.
